What the Philosophy SIG is

A special interest group of American Mensa devoted to thoughtful philosophical discussion — in public, in good faith, and in good order.

Our mission

The Philosophy SIG exists to make room for careful argument: official articles from invited philosophers, announcements from the SIG Coordinator, and a community of members who disagree productively. We publish and discuss work across ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, logic, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of religion.

How content works

Clarity of authority is this site’s core principle. Content is structurally separated so you always know who is speaking:

  • Official Articles — invited contributions, reviewed and approved before publication. These carry the SIG’s official voice.
  • SIG Official Announcements — operational notices from the SIG Coordinator.
  • Member Articles and Discussions — community content, clearly labeled. Views are the authors’ own.

Contributor standards

Invited contributors are asked to write for a general intelligent reader, cite what they borrow, steelman what they oppose, and accept editorial review before publication. Members publishing community articles agree to the content policy and to moderation focused on community health.
